Girl Scout Day at PMAC 2008

On Sunday May 18, 2008 the members of PMAC hosted a Girl Scout Aviation day.  Twelve Troops signed up to attend, however we had some fair weather flyers and only 57 girls attended.  The flight instructors did a great job of getting all the girls flight time even with the high winds and rain showers.

As in the past we started each scout on the simulator, then to the flight line for some real flying on a RC Airplane.  Next John and Mike served up a great lunch for every one.  Aviation career opportunities were discussed by Joel (Airline Captain), Steve (Flight Instructor), Tom (AMA Associate District VII VP) and Chris (Air Traffic Controller, Oakland Airport).  The day came to an end with a air show put on by several PMAC members.

Thanks to all the PMAC members that came out in the cold to make this a great day of fun for the girls and a chance to share our sport with them.

Runway Rolled May 29, 2008

The PMAC executive board recently voted to roll the runway with a commercial vibrating roller.  On May 29 the field was rolled and all who have looked at the runway agree that it is much smoother than before.  This could become an annual field improvement event if it helps.  Let the board members know what you think.

2008 Student Banquet

October 23 represented the last of our regular training season. PMAC pilot Elizabeth Adams thought it was too great of a season to let weather and darkness bring it to a simple end so she arranged our First Annual Training Dinner after our last Thursday session. Thirty two instructors, students, friends, and family members shared training stories at the Rainforest Cafe in Auburn Hills.

Congratulations to our nine new solo pilots and special thanks to our event planner, Elizabeth.  And happy birthday, Tim.

2008 Swap Meet

Alvin Johnson and crew coordinated another great PMAC Swap Meet on October 19, 2008 with 46 vendors.    See Flyer

On two Sundays, August 17 & September 28, PMAC presented its 2008 ELECTRIC FLY-IN to the public at the PMAC field at White Lake Road, 1/2 mile east of Teggerdine. Why two days, first the weather on that Sunday in August was less than great and two, it was that much fun.  Any AMA legal miniature remotely-controlled aircraft powered by one or more electric motors were welcome to fly.

Special thanks to our sponsors, Castle Creation and Hobby Lobby.
