Snow Fly

So cold my camera batteries failed early but I did manage a few pix.

The PMAC 2019 Snow Fly will be remembered

as a challenging day with temps in the low teens,

10 to 20 mph north winds and a driving snow

that sparked weather advisories and hazardous

driving conditions across the entire midwest.

Despite this, about 10-13 people ventured out the

field for the event. 5 or so models actually flew

for the day with short flights due to chilly fingers icy batteries and the driving snow constantly flying into eyes and face making flying even more of a challenge. Flying in diverse and difficult conditions often makes you a better pilot overall due to additional stick time but also learning to cope with less than ideal conditions. Congrats to those that met this level of challenge and have now added this to their RC flying experience! Thanks to Troy Pointer for cooking. Jeff Patterson, Shawn Peterson, Sam Milligan. Gary Merling and your president / webmaster donated food and drinks for this event. Pilots in order of flight: George Dzahristos Shawn Baker, Shawn Peterson, Tim Allen and Steve Seltman. Special thanks to Greg Brausa of our sister club, Skymasters, for bringing along his powerful propane heater!

Yes, a broom was used for runway clearing!

Shawn’s “wind Indicator”

shows a 15mph gust!
